Fuoco e ghiaccio si sono incontrati. E il fuoco ha la meglio, sta distruggendo foreste vitali.
Il Pianeta sta cambiando molto, troppo rapidamente. Il clima sta cambiando, lo sappiamo. Ma non sappiamo dove ci porterà.

La Siberia brucia. Quelle fiamme, così spaventose, dovrebbero ammutolirci e darci la forza di unirci, tutti quanti, per spegnere quel fuoco. Ci dovremmo unire, finalmente e indissolubilmente, per invertire la crisi climatica.

E invece i nostri governanti giocano a riarmarsi; vanno in spiaggia a prendersela con i poveri, gli “zingari”, i naufraghi; colpiscono e arrestano diciassettenni che protestano leggendo la Costituzione della propria nazione; c’è addirittura uno inglese che sostiene che l’EU sia un nemico da dover abbandonare. Tutti a guardarsi il proprio ombelico, a sbeffeggiare gli avversari, a voler ridurre le libertà individuali. Fascisti che cercano di alimentare l’odio e la disgregazione sociale per ottenere un po’ di potere in più.

Elettori che ci stanno portando verso il baratro.

“Stavamo guardando crescere una montagna, ha impiegato tantissimo tempo”. L’evoluzione è lenta, i cambiamenti sono impercettibili.

Se non facciamo qualcosa, subito, tutti, l’estinzione sarà invece rapidissima.

The planet is changing a lot, too quickly. We know the climate is changing. But we don’t know where it will take us.

Siberia burns. Those flames, so frightening, should silence us and give us the strength to unite, all of us, to extinguish that fire. We should join, finally and indissolubly, to reverse the climate crisis.

On the contrary our rulers play the arm race; they go to the beach to blame the poor, the “dirty gypsies“, the migrants; they chase and arrest seventeen-year-olds who protest by reading the constitution of their own nation; there is even an Englishman who claims that the EU is an enemy to get rid of altogether. They mind their own little yard, mock their opponents, aim to shrink individual freedoms. Fascists are trying to fuel hatred and social disintegration to gain a little more power.

Politicians who are the fruit of their own voters: voters mind their own little yard, mock their opponents, aim to shrink individual freedoms. Voters who rejoice in the suffering of the poorest and most fragile ones.

Electors who are taking us to the abyss.

“We were watching a growing mountain, it took so long.” Evolution is slow, changes are imperceptible.

If we don’t do something, immediately, everyone, the extinction will hit us swiftly.
